Description: Today was 62F and sunny so we planned an impromtu cookout. Like I always say; you don't need a 4 place airplane, just a friend with one. Alex and the kids flew with Steve in the Buc and Steve's wife flew with me in the SeaRey. We made the short hop over to Manchaug in about 20 minutes. For the this type trip the planes are really practical. Just grab some stuff, pre-flight, load-up and go. By land it would have taken hours to trailer a boat up there, launch and cruise over to this little island... and wouldn't have nearly been as much fun.

Top: Georgia is feeling silly after an airplane ride and some potato chips

2nd: These kids are real Yankees unlike their transplant daddy (me). She didn't stay in long but she wanted to swim. Her yankee mama was proud.

3rd: Elvis followed his sister but put a toe in and bolted straight back for mama.

4th: Georgia and Elvis take their towels and make a bed out of the gear to get warm and cozy. Of course, getting dressed wasn't an option... ah to be a kid again...

Looks like lot's of fun Bret, must of been one of those's perfect days. I noticed you have the landing gear down, is that to keep the bottom of the plane off the rocks? Do you get a little water coming in the plane after you raise the gear up from each gear leg?

    You are so right Rob...

Steve, yep and yep. I put the wheels down after carefully wading the plane up broadside to a big rock and letting my passenger out without getting feet wet. I then put the wheels down and pulled the plane by hand up toward the shore a little. The wheels kept the plane from bumping rocks and from weathervaning and possibly bumping the Buc. Some water always comes in when you bring the gear up. Thats what the bilge pump is for...

Now we know how you plane got its name. 'STREAKER'. Bret, you will soon get to meet 'Liberator'
