Description: The cookout scene. Last photo is of Steve taking off while Robin and I circle overhead.

One note of interest: the winds picked-up while we were out, when I tuned-in to the notoriously disfunctional AWOS at N. Central it reported wind direction variable at 10 gusting to 27......!!!!!! This time though, it was believable. It was mostly down the pipe but the gusts had me and Robin doing some planning. The final would be hot (80 mph) and a go around would be plan A. Landing would be plan B. We watched as the heavier Lake Buc breezed through a perfect landing. That was expected but still encouraging. We flew 85 mph most of the way in with no flaps. Once we had the runway, I knocked in 10 degrees and kept 80 indicated (max flap speed). I resolved to not worry about a high indicated speed if touchdown looked slow enough. At about 70 indicated we touched the mains with nary a squeek. We looked like a seagull making a spot landing on a pier piling when we hit our spot just past the threshold. Rollout was nill. Taxi to the turnout took long enough that I apologized to traffic waiting to depart. That solicited lots of wise-guy comments but I think they were all pleased to see an 85 mph airplane handling the conditions in good form. Good show Miss Streaker!....
