Are you a member of the Seaplane Pilots Association, Thomas? If so, it's real easy: contact their office (in Lakeland, FL) and get instructions and advice. If not, it's easy too: join the SPA and see the above advice.

I asked the same question and was convinced to let it rest. Before you apply, be sure you have none in the neighborhood with a grudge against airplanes.

Best to be very careful about persuing a 'seaplane base',Suddenly all seaplane activity on your lake will be in jeopardy.

I agree, Just fly off your property and give your neighbors rides. I would not be in such a hurry to get the Feds involved. Just my opinion.

On Russ's website He said this. ' As the house was being completed they had a visit from the Florida Transportation Department.<br /><br />The word was, they needed a permit in order to keep the SeaRey on their property. This was finally settled after a year and half of paper work for a new Private Seaplane Base being placed on the Orlando and Tampa area terminal chart with the FAA designation of (1Fl0) Garner’s Landing.'<br />Has this situation changed? Do I need a permit to keep a sea plane on my property?<br />

Thomas, the FDOT has suspended their involvement with all private seaplane bases in Florida.<br />Matt has it, the biggest hurtle to overcome if you want to operate your SeaRey from your property is your neighbors. <br />      Attachments:
