We don't seem to have as many waterfront restaurant options in the Houston area as our friends in Florida, but Jim and I found this muddy shoreline within walking distance of Stingarees restaurant, on the Bolivar peninsula near Galveston, Texas.

The tide was dropping when we beached, which meant that when we returned, we were even further up into the mud. This provided a great opportunity to try a technique that Kerry showed us during our demo rides: power up, kick the rudder, pivot on point and then straighten out to scoot across the mud into the open water. What fun!

    Dave,
Where do you keep your plane. I spent 5 months in Houston (January through May) and missed my SR terribly. Making up for lost time now tho

Rick: We live at Polly Ranch airpark, 7XS0.

Frank: I've been combing the Clear Lake area for a waterfront restaurant that is SeaRey-suitable, but they all have docks or breakwaters and I'm too chicken to try parking on either of those! If I missed one, please let me know!

Dave , it's a Long time since I lived there....so I guess they made more marinas than ramps....I will check
with a pilot buddy ,lives in the area, and a boater too and see if he has any suggestions.

Hey guys, that's my old hood . Grew up in Beaumont and had a beach house in Crystal Beach....used to
fly around there all the time. The mud has a very funky smell and sticks like glue to everything. The
Stingaree is one of last resturants open and still packs them in. I would think Clear Lake has some great
places to land and good food too. Thanks for posting. Frank
