Description: Many of the old plantations along the James have been converted into museums, perhaps because tourists are legal and slaves are not.

Westover plantation has always been occupied and farmed by its owners. The current lady of the house grew up speaking German and married into the family. They permit the public to walk about the grounds but open the house only one or two days a year.
