Fortunately the bugs don't fly high. That's especially fortuitous on early mornings where the clouds are low.

The down side of being high is that there is less to see. Or maybe there is more to see on a grander scale rather than all the details that show up closer to love bug altitudes.

Being a little lower did avoid some seriously bumpy looking higher clouds, so being stuck in the middle again was just right for this day.

Out there, away from the airports and roadways where love bugs like to prowl, it's a bit less crowded. And, with all the water around, there's plenty for cleaning off the luckless love bugs impaled on the wings.

No luckless love bugs on planes that love to hug water!

A bit off topic, but, when Steve Parsons bought VMU from me, he really did a close inspection inside both wings and figured that he removed about 15 lbs of dead lady bugs which had died over the many winters of storage. I used to vacuum the inside of the plane each spring, and got scads, but never thought about inside the wings.

Dan - you just need to train them to line up facing forward and you would double your airspeed. Then again, that's still probably slower than the trucks that keep passing me...

Wow Dan, you must be flying low along the turnpike. I flew 7 hours to Georgia and back on Saturday and never hit one. Thanks for doing your part to reduce the lovebug population. I saw some love of a human sort on a crowded sandbar in the middle of the Suwannee River.

I don't know the science of it Frank, but this is the worst and longest lasting lovebug infestation I can remember. And on top of that, we had a flight of 3 to Tavares yesterday and the blind mosquitoes covered our planes on departure. Its starting to bug me.

Gives a new meaning to " Way down upon the Suwannee " even if it was crowded.
