The colours should be good this year and the days of October 15th till the 25th look good on my calendar.
We can sleep 3 couples.....and 2 singles....or 9 very friendly...open minded humans.
The hangar will be partially occupied by an Avid Magnum, but we could get 2 SeaReys under cover in it as well.
The lawn can accomodate unlimited #s of a/c.
91 octane...unleaded...no ethanol...available as well as 100LL.

Proposed trips would be:
Thousand Islands tour....about 3 1/2 hours
Fly-in Bkfst in Brockville every Sunday morning...2 hour round trip
Lunch at Elmhirst Resort...on Rice Lake...grass or water landing.....2 hour round trip
Tour the Aviation Museum at CFB Trenton...flying in with PPR.....30 mins each way.
A cicumnavigation of Prince Edward Countie's shore line...326 miles.....3 1/2 hrs
Just fly wherever....converting fuel to noise.

Lastly....fly to Main Duck island on the Can/ US border to test the new unmanned interceptors ....they are there to protect our friends south of the border from invasion of us pesky Canadians....who are notoriously known for terrorism activities.....we are also celebrating the War of 1812 at this time....which we won....so the UAVs will really be active.

De-briefing will be here at the house ...bkfst etc....dinners as well but obviously....the pub will be a big part of the activities.

Anybody interested....comments...suggestions....

Just added two pics taken this afternoon between tstms. The trees are turning....the weather of the past week has been terrible. One sunny day since Sept. 28th and a lot of wind. The long range fcst says much of the same till the 11th. The week of the 13th on looks not bad. Hope it stays for some fun flying.
Attachments:

Lynn has noted that the leaves will be well past their peak by the late October. We have a couple of Maples already turning.
Could you folks firm up dates, or indicate the earliest in Oct.after the 11th, that we could all gather.
Maybe indicate 1st choice and an alternaternative.

OK !!....After much consultation with ' The Boss '....checking of old pictures re Fall Foliage etc,...taking into account that our Thanksgiving long weekend is Oct. 10th...11th..& 12th,....how bout we plan on 13th till the 16th....and on through the weekend of the 17th & 18th if necessary...( Weather etc. ) ??...After that, it gets pretty hectic around here as we leave for the Baja in early Nov.

The picture ( Evening Taxi-in ).. was taken at 18:15 last evening after another great days flying.
The days are getting shorter and DST doesn't change to D Standard Time until 01 Nov.

The speed with which the leaves are changing is really fast this year. There has been little rain since August, so the leaves are starting to get brittle and falling....as well as turning colour.
Can we firm this up for the 13th....on....??
Who is planning on being here ?

Bruno Grondin - Sep 24,2009 Viewers | Reply
I'll do my best to visit Dave...

    Well..Well....Well..!!
With rain and snow showers now forecast for Wed....Thurs, and rain fcst with fairly strong winds on all days except Friday, I think it best that we cancel this years Picton Gaggle. The temps are going to be coolish as well....down in the 40's.
Too bad, but the colours are sort of tepid as the past week has been very wet and windy . Maybe next year ??

Dan Nickens - Oct 10,2009 Viewers | Reply
Snow? Geez, we have record high temperatures down here, Dave. Right now 'coolish' sounds great, but, snow? Yeah, maybe next year.

Kevin D'Angelo - Oct 10,2009 Viewers | Reply
Good choice Dave- Forecast definitely looks pretty ugly for next week. Hopefully we can get together with our northern neighbors next year. I can't believe that I haven't crossed the border in the Rey at all this whole year. Maybe Bruno will invite us all to his place to go skiing this winter He He

John Robert Dunlop - Oct 10,2009 Viewers | Reply
I cannot believe this Dave! The weather looks great!
Dennis and I will fly next week come hell or high water!
We are going to circle Turtle Cove until you come out of hiding!

Dave Edward - Oct 11,2009 Viewers | Reply
The two pics I just added show some colour....and a lot of wind. That was yesterday...today ( Sunday ) looks great, but with winds up to 25 kts. Tomorrow...Tuesday and Wed show wind and rain...Thursday nice...Friday with wind and rain.
When you circle, look for the guy in the yellow rain gear.

You could fly over to my place, park the planes inside, sit in the jacuzzi,
f__k the leaves and party!

John Robert Dunlop - Oct 11,2009 Viewers | Reply
Now tha'ts another option Dave. Thank you! We can make nice engine noises too as we park next to your SeaRey glider! Do we have to nickname you seagull??!

Hey Dave, Dennis and I will check with you probably Tuesday morning. Dennis has already booked the week off se we can slip a day or two if necessary.
I was planning to see if we can poke Bill Watkin into the air and have lunch at Elmhurst.
I have not checked with Euclid, Lee or Bruno yet.
If the weather continues to indicate rain and wind all week I'll probably stay local but otherwise it would be great to pay you Lynn a visit (if only for a few hours!)

Sounds good John. The American marine fcst and the Canadian Marine fcsts are at odds.....NOAA and TC aviation wx are in agreement for shitty wx. Let's play it by ear. Would love to have you here for a mini gaggle.

Dave, it's great to see the weather outlook for this week changing for the better!

    OK...here's what's happening now.
I will be ferrying a C-180 to Orillia for a transponder calibration with Paul Armstrong....subject to weather....early Wednesday morning.
If you folks want to wend your way here for Tuesday....and spend the night,....great.
We could all depart on Wed. morning.
Thursday, Lynn and I go to Guelph.......by car.

Dave Edward - Oct 13,2009 Viewers | Reply
A real messy morning here right now, but fcst to improve around noon. The winds are going to be a factor this afternoon with 340/20 prevailing. Wed. looks good....American and Canadian fcst is for 40 % risk of showers ( a cover your ass fcst ?? ) and winds around 15 to 20 mph. Same on Thursday and Friday, but with heavy frost overnight.
The American fcst calls for a chance of snow showers.
If you folks arrive this afternoon, supper here...then early tomorrow....I'll do some flying with you until I have to go to Orilla....returning Wed. in the afternoon. A pub meal is in order. You guys could do a 1000' Island tour Wed. afternoon....then spend the night here....Lynn has comitted us to watching our 18 year old grandson play a football game in Guelph on Thursday ( he is being scouted by Carlton...Queens...and U of T ) so we will leave here around 09:30 on Thursday. Back Friday around noon, so you guys could stay here Thursday night if you wish....and we'll play it by ear for Friday.....once we scrape the frost off the wings.
