Paige arrived from OshKosh Tuesday at 1:00 in the morning with his wife Cookie. My friends on Harley's arrived at about 8:00am to check in on the maiden flight, they are on their way to Sturgis. Their arrival was enough to wake up Paige and his wife from their nice quiet country slumber. Shortly after their arrival Paige came scurrerying out of his camper to check out the Harley's. Paige and I check everything over one last time on the plane, no adjustments were required with the exception of the pitch of the prop. Paige was happy with what he saw. He taxied out about 9:00 and 357SG left on it's maiden flight out of my strip. Everything went well and no changes were required. Two more flights of about 15 mins. a piece and then it was my turn. We went to a local airport shot a few landings and back to my strip for a few precision approaches into my field. After that we went out to the Saginaw Bay to get her wet for the first time, water conditions were perfect...WHAT FUN!! I got about 4 hours on it today and have just started to learn about this plane we call SEAREY. It's a lot to take in for one day, after a couple of years work, my head is still in the clouds.

Congrats Steve and best of luck with your plane. Quick question though: You mention 'We went to a local airport...' I'm not questioning the sanity of having a test pilot/instructor for the first few flights, just the legality. Within the first 40 hours, is there a legal way to have 2 people aboard?

Thanks Charlie, can't wait to hear about your's. I appreciate your comments Dan, thanks for your inspiration and also for getting these sites going, they were a big help. Dave I'll try to post some they weren't all that good, I was shaking too much. Ken thank you, regarding your question, if you read carefully I didn't say anyone was with me. ; ) The plane and I (we) did okay together. Jeff, all the meters are pegged, especially the be careful meter.

Congratulations Steve, its nice to know it can be done. Sometimes I still wonder. On to the Harleys, tell your friends to take an extra bike to Sturgis and you will fly up and meet them, How could you beat that? Have fun

Hi Steve, one more congratulations. I know how you feel, but I'm wondering how your'e going to feel when the decision day comes and it's Searey or Z06, Searey or Z06, Searey or Z06. That will be a tough decision.

Steve Gromak - Aug 12,2005   Viewers  | Reply
Thanks Larry. I still have the '02 Z06 and I'm on the list for a new one...we'll see how it goes, the house projects will just have to wait awhile. BTW I'm glad you decided to stay with your plane, didn't want to say anything before, I'm sure it was tempting, especially getting a good deal on a 914. It was always fun when Kerry would 'dial up' the turbo on the factory plane.

Yea, I was talking about the new one. Some of the reports I've read describe the performance as 'awsome' as the teens would say. Careful, you could win the contest what with Seareys, 500hp Z06's, BMW cycles. The contest, of course, is the one that a man wins when he dies.

Steve, I know we've corresponded recently on other matters but for the records here, congrats! Hope you make next year's Georgian Gaggle.
