Death of an Aerial Artist

There is sad news from Alaska. A young and gifted photographer died Friday when his airplane stalled and crashed on a beach. The story of his death can be found in a newspaper account. The story of his life can be found on his web site. Attachments:

His pictures are truly a gift for all of us. He probably was trying to get another great shot when he let his airspeed decay a little too much while holding a camera in one hand and the stick in the other.

What a shame. He was very talented with a passion for great adventure. Another great find Dan, thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the post Dan. I had never heard of him but Shaun’s photos are amazing and he must have been a skilled pilot to have gotten in and out of some of those places..
A loss for sure..
Dan, I sent these two articles to our friend Matt, who also has a Super Cub, and was in Alaska the same time you were there a few years ago. Matt built a Super Cub and flew it up to Alaska with the owner. Linda, Matt's wife, flew up Commercially a few days later and they stayed at Doug's house. He sent a note back saying that a friend of his, who we met at Matt & Linda's home for Thanksgiving 2 years ago; knew Shaun very well.....in fact he was flying along with them on the day of the accident!! Doug, Matt's friend, lives in Melbourne Florida in the Winter, and in Alaska in the Summer. Shaun's pictures were all beautiful, he certainly lived a great Adventurous life!! Very sad. I had one of those strange Premonitions that Matt's friend might have known Shaun, not only did he know of him, he was friends with him and Doug was flying in his plane along with them on that terrible day......Saturday, the 7th of June!!
