Hey! Larry Woods has a nice article about the A-24 in the July KITPLANES (18-23). He makes it sound almost as good as a SeaRey <g> and credits John Dunlop for teaching him how to alight on water.

(In the same issue there's an article that explains why I couldn't get N123MX for my SeaRey and had to settle for N123XM. N123MX is a Lancair built by... ['Twilight Zone' theme] doo dee doo dee, doo dee doo dee... one Mike Maxwell. No relation.)

    Hi Don:

LOL!!

John Dunlop is a 'wizard' instructor!!! I was indeed fortunate to have such a great seaplane pilot and patient teacher get me through the hoops. As I noted in the article, it was also my good fortune that no one was around with a video camera for the first 20 landings. (g)

Three weeks ago, I had 'new bearings placed in my right hand landing gear' (i.e., an artificial ankle joint implant). John's upcoming 'gaggle' is providing superb motivation with respect to the rehab. It will be nip and tuck as to whether I will be fit to fly by then but I am sure working at it and look forward to seeing many of you at 'John's Most Excellent Event' if I can get there . (g)

Best,
Larry

Come on Larry! You are full of the blarney for sure! (I'm sure the disinterested observer would say we had good time teaching each other!)
The Gaggle is only two weeks away. It is a real shame that so many almost-ready SeaReys (and ankle joints) will probably miss this kick-off to the Great Lakes summer.
There will be other Gaggles (before you know it!)

    Hi John:

I have to say that the progress with the ankle has been nothing short of amazing. Both the swelling and pain have fallen dramatically and I am experiencing the first evidence of some movement in the joint. It seems to be improving daily.

Best,
Larry
