I have a friend that is considering a SeaRey after selling his Cessna 120. He is adamant about it not being in salt water. Is he unrealistice to think he can buy a used one for under $35,000? He would consider the Rotax 582 but I think that would be under powered. Any comments, suggestions, advice, offers, etc would be appreciated. I and my plane partner are almost finished rebuilding a 'Rey that we bought damaged, but neither of us have any SeaRey flying time. Thanks to this community for your input.

I doubt you'll find any 'Reys with a 582 for sale. Can't be many out there. $35k is very low for a Rey and I'd think for that price it would need significant work.

The good news is that if there is any salt damage on any Rey is easy to find. Should also be easy to fix. I wouldn't avoid one that has seen salt.
