I just wanted to let everyone know that Troy Enriquez passed his initial sport pilot checkride for single-engine land AND sea today in SeaRey N77MT!! It was a huge milestone and learning experience for me because he was my first student to do an initial rating in the SeaRey. The examiner was pleased to say that Troy did a great job on his checkride, and didn't scare him too much!! Troy is partners in this aircraft with a gentleman named Sam Lewis, who I also instructed a few months back. Sam is a retired airline pilot who recently passed his sport pilot proficiency check in the SeaRey! Attachments:

Greg, I think if more people spent time receiving training we'ed have less accidents like the one here in Winter Have last month. Congratulations to Troy and Sam and I know they'll have a blast with their SeaRey. If I could ask, about what was the time Troy spent with you and do you think his skill level will need bumping up before he ventures out on his own in his SeaRey.

    thanks guys.
Russ, I am new with the searey only about 50 hrs. now. but, I have been flying for about
20 years. admittedly on and off. I have flown from Tallahassee to key West and have
flown to the Bahamas about 18 times in a Saratoga mostly. Once i was lucky enough to
fly a caravan. twice in a 310. I learn something (i hope) everytime I fly. previously my
cousin and I had a Grumman Cheetah that we flew the crap out of. I have not broken
anything yet . and I am very careful and prepare for every flight even in my own lake. I
really enjoy flying the Searey but I also respect it very much. I treat it like a machine
that can kill me/others and not like a toy. I say all this with a smile and just to share a
little info. Cheers and hope to see you soon. BTW don't you owe me a phone call (re:
gear box)? Thanks again to everyone.

Congratulations Troy, your comments are well taken in context. 'Gee, that was an awesome flight in my Searey' is something you might say several hours after engine shutdown. So, flying the 'Rey is all business, all the time with some serious grinning in between takeoff and landings. You don't have to try anything to look good in it, no fancy flybys needed. You just show up, level flight and normal landing and you've got the ramp to yourself. So, stay cool until you've got a bunch of hours, then get some more dual to polish those self taught bad habits.
We all get it and are very happy for you, too. Best regards...
