I was taxiing along today, minding my business, when... Well, see for yourself.

The upside is that the top of your wing is now clean and free of dust and debris. No warning from the Bombardier folks ??

Yikes. Did you wish them well on the radio?

Nah, it was my own fault. I did notice that the position lights were on, but was busy with something else and didn't get around to thinking about whether the engines were running. When I found out that they were, I was very glad I'd just rebuilt the tailwheel and that the stick was fully back and the brakes worked. Even then I was briefly worried about those other airplanes.

Generally position lights just mean the aircraft is powered up, beacon means the engines are about to/are running. I saw the MCD was closed so in the absence of a beacon the crew could have been inside with the APU running, waiting for the boss. Couldn't tell if the chocks were pulled or if there was a marshaller out front. Did the APU get you or the engines?

That's good to know about the beacon, Steve--but I didn't notice whether it was on, or not. It was a pretty strong wind for an APU, even at full power, so I'm betting the beacon was on.

Cold day--with zip-leg pant legs zipped on. We've had about 4 VFR days here this month, and my Searey was apart for two of them. The video day was #3. Today was #4, but I forfeited it in favor of having lunch with our 20 day old grandson. Tomorrow we go back to IFR again.
