Jerry, we're all looking forward to hearing your results in detail. Everything from true cost of the entire engine package (mount, plumbing, prop, engine, +++) to your empty weight.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with the Raven 1300 SVS Geo Metro/Suzuki (168 lbs.)? The Rotax 914 is priced at about 23K and I have been advised that the turbo boost of 115 hp is only good for about five minutes before detonation may occur! What other higher horsepower powerplants are available with suitable power to weight performance for the searey?

What does the Metro engine put out? Remember most car engines are aregood at peak power for jjust a few seconds, the Rotax is good for five minutes, bit of a difference.

Stuart, the Raven main web site indicates 'over 170 units sold, with several having over 500 hours on them'. That is not the turbo version of this engine, that is the 90 hp version. One can only surmise that they have sold a fraction of that in the 115 hp turbo version, else they would have listed their vast experience there also. I am always happy to hear the 1st hand experience of someone who has flown a new engine type but the more I learn about the stock Rotax 4 strokes, the more impressed I am. Darn expensive and incredibly reliable. BTW - 2 years ago, when I started this quest in ernest, I was asking the same questions you are.
