Description: The tide was just starting to come in when I arrived and headed in on the stony beach. (I tied it up better after taking this photo. The short white line tied to the bow eye isn't doing anything. Normally the free end is tied to the left strut. A darker line was tied from the bow eye to a tree, out of sight to the left.)

I took the other photo from the end of the dock in the background.

A couple who work there were scraping peeling paint from a window frame. When they figured out that I had arrived in a seaplane, they got all excited. I ended up taking the guy for a ride, and his wife invited me and Carol to fly back for a lawn party on Sunday. She said it's 'a benefit for the river, and all the plantation owners will be there and music and lots of people.' Jeez Louise. I've never thought of consorting with plantation owners (but it might be fun).

Go for it! (And bring the camera.) Us commoners would like to see!

Don, all that shore debris doesn't look too hull friendly, would wheels down help that?

Maybe, Steve. With the tide out, the slope was gradual there, but the beach is mostly round river rocks, averaging about 3' in diameter. But some are larger, so I decided to leave the gear up and just beach it. There was only a very light breeze and almost no wave action. The KeelGuard worked well, and I saw no abrasions on the hull after getting back to the hangar.

Also, the bank rises steeply there, with no room to turn around on the beach, so I would have had to push the airplane back into the water--or wait until the tide was full. I was wearing shorts and water shoes, so it seemed best to wade. However, the guy who went for a ride wore jeans and heavy ankle-high leather boots--which he left on while wading knee-deep in the salty water. I'll bet he's having second thoughts about that today.
