Description: Last week i heard a racket out on the Ohio River so I walked out on the deck to see what was all of the racket about..... There it was a WWll LST crusing up the Ohio toward Cincinnati. I see barges all the time but a BATTLESHIP? This LST was used at Normandie and was rescued from a ship graveyard by a bunch of old Navy guys, rebuilt the darn thing and then saied it back from Greece. It was capable of carrying 23 Sherman tanks and 1000 troops. It was on display this weekend in Cincinnati Oh at their Tall Stacks event along with 23 old Paddle wheelers including the Mississippi queen and the Belle of Louisville.
