Description: Here is where a Searey ought to be parked - in one's back yard. I've developed a process for getting it in and out of the water, which is getting easier with time. I tell Barbara this is the picnic shelter and I'm just using it in between parties.

Dennis, Serious lake residents recognize that the front of the house and the front yard face the lake. The other side where you typically drive up to is the back.

This is the kind of lake that I want to live on, nice and quiet (untill I get there) and warm water.

Dave, being familiar with Lake Norman, not many people describe it as 'nice and quiet'. My lake falls into a similar category. On weekends during the summer I just don't fly during the day / afternoon. It is too busy, too many boat and too rough water. In the off season, however, the normally buzzing lake becomes peacful and tranquil. I would guess that Dennis shares my appreciation for the off season peace and quiet.

You are right, Jeff. Lake Norman weekends are rough from Memorial Day until Labor Day. And I'm on the southern end which is the busiest. The week days aren't bad but I have circled for 20 minutes before, waiting for a shot at the cove. The water is usually too rough to land on after about 10 o'clock on Saturdays during the summer. But, during this time of year, it's all mine. I have a hanger on a grass strip in Maiden, about 30 miles to the west, if it's too rough to play on the water.

    Sure beats hangar rent.

I also live on a lake (Little Pushaw lake, Maine), but do not have room enough to keep my plane there. I can only beach it out front for the day....then I fly it back to Old Town airport and to my rented hangar. But life is good and no complaints here.

Btw, up here, the front yard is commonly known as the 'dooryard'. Don't ask me where that came from, it's a Maine thing.

Back...Front...Side....Who cares when you have a beautiful setup like that ??
What a lovely place Dennis.

Dave and Dave: Barbara and I can't agree on which is the front. The lake side is the front to me but she has me trained to say it's the back. Either way, I'm a blessed boy!!

    Absolutely and totally correct Dave!!!!
