Description: Although the picture isn't much, the story is the highlight of my day. This is my 16 year old step-daughter and me getting ready to take off on her first flight in the Searey. And my first passenger off the water other than Paige. It was a perfect day at Lake Norman today and we flew over to Laney - the local grass strip hangout - and had lunch with my pilot buddies. Then flew around Lake Norman for a while. Meredith didn't want to go home. Of course the crowning jewel was a water landing that was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Mom took this picture.

It sounds like this might have been the highlight of Meredith's day too, Dennis. Good show!

Yep. Last night, after prayers, she said 'thanks for taking me flying today'. Not a bad way to end a beautiful Saturday.

You bet, Frank. In fact, we went again on Sunday and Monday. Now everytime I start down to the plane, here comes Meredith with her headset. Might be a God thing since she is a special needs kid and we are continually looking for something she can have a passion about (besides boys).

That's great Dennis, she may be joining the club of folks who have a special need for SeaRey's. When I first
started building, my step daughter asked if she could sign up for the first passenger flight; I was delighted, so
I approved the plan immediately. Trouble is that I've been building for 4-1/2 years and now she has gone
and gotten married, had a baby and now has a special needs child of her own, and I think I've lost my first
passenger. I'm looking forward to taking this grandchild up--eventually!

The Searey is a ball when flying solo. For me, the pleasure doubles when Barbara or Meredith are there enjoying it also. I will admit, though, that the pressure to perform flawlessly is greater, but that keeps my flying skills sharp and gets me out of those sloppy habbits.
