Description: Even the tallest towers eventually must return to earth. This one was screwed into the ground by the tornado last week. Before the tower crashed, it was 1500’ tall. Now it's maybe 15’ tall.

The downed tower caused great consternation on yesterday’s flight to visit my friend Roy. I knew there was a tall tower that I had to circumnavigate, but it was nowhere in sight. As I got closer I frantically searched, sure I had missed seeing it and was about to have a close encounter.

I flew through its formerly occupied airspace at 1000’, free and clear, but definitely on edge.

Is it true that the only good tower is a downed tower?
