Description: The devastation from the tornado last week was clearly in evidence. A brown line ran straight across the landscape from the twisted tower east towards Deland. It was a like a line drawn on a map to my friend Roy’s place.

Roy’s short grass strip was littered with debris. I decided to land in the lake. There was less debris. It was easy to see and avoid the floating roof tops.

A local landmark, the Lady Beresford, lay sunken there. According to Roy, the boat was picked up by the storm and dropped atop adjacent pilings. The hull was punctured in multiple places and it sank in place.
