Description:

Ok boys & girls, you asked for it, so here it is!

A brand spankin new option, actually 2 options

Upper 2 photos:

As you can see, the standard smaller deck hatch opening is in this photo. Our larger hatch opening is the outer perimeter shown. Right hand photo is the hatch removed for access through the nose deck. This larger hatch is retrofittable to any existing Searey. I've confirmed with Kerry that the nose decks of all older styles and newer styles are the same shape forward of the foremost windshield point. We elected to retain the smaller hatch in this option: Removing 4 screws versus 14 screws if your retrieving a smaller item inside. Can also use Camlocs, but it will add significantly to the price of installation.

Supplied with this option is the new larger hatch and a flange with hardware needed for installation. If you have the smaller existing hatch, you may use it with this option. If you don't have it, we'll make one for 'ya! On a existing flyable aircraft, this can be installed WITHOUT removing the nosedeck....

2nd new option:

We added a vertical bulkhead in front of the rudder pedals, from the hulls floor, to the top of the nose deck. This keeps any items you place in the nose from sliding back against the rudder pedals. Also, as you can see in the lower photos, we've added a shelf above the battery, so any space above the battery inside the nose deck is now usable for storage. This shelf has its own hatch for access to the battery, and its large enough so smaller items could be placed below 'deck' (depending on your batteries size).

This may also be retrofitted to a flying Searey, using the mega hatch opening. Designed around the C hull, may need some trimming on the vertical bulkheads for a B hull. Haven't seen a A hull, so cannot tell you on that one!

    Hi Jack,

14 screws holding that hatch on, it's not going anywhere I did see someone years ago on takeoff from water lose there hatch on a Buc II. Prop obliterated it, no damage to the prop at ALL, and they continued around the pattern to land and check it out. Jim

    Thomas,

As I recall the weight for both the Mega Hatch and the interior shelf / vertical partition weighs in at 15-18 lbs installed. I just sold one during the Sebring show and will be installing it next month when the aircraft comes in. Jim
