Description:
Hoover Dam was completed in 1935. Unfortunately the sitting President had been un-throned and his successor simply changed the name to Boulder Dam. Politics being what they are, the name was changed back at a much later date.
The dam is 726’ high. The Boulder Bypass, a road that leaps out over the canyon instead of topping the dam, is now being constructed, at least in part, because of concern for terrorist attack. For now, traffic is being restricted and redirected. To avoid congestion, I didn’t get too close.

I don't think the TSA is too worried about me crashing my SeaRey into it, Frank. A tanker full of gasoline parked on top of it, however, is whole nother story.

I tried that line with TSA just before they seized my 95% empty tube of toothpaste from my carry on. <br />Common sense doesn't flow down too far in the Gov'mnt.

One of the things they tell you on the tour is that the concrete in the dam gets harder as the years go by. It's not coming down very easy.
