Description: Classic layer cake geology! Long, long time ago, there was a huge lake here. The long vanished Hopi Lake was about as large as a modern day Lake Erie. Volcanic flows and a re-routed Colorado River probably lead to its disappearance. Just a few million years ago I could have splashed my way across this part of Arizona.
