Also handy for looking for mice - but make sure your cat is not still inside when you start up!

When I was a kid, my bedroom was right over the garage. Dad normally went to work before I got up for school. One morning, when he turned the key to start the car, there was a strange THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP noise as the engine turned over, followed by the most ungodly howling you ever heard in your life. The neighbor's stupid cat had found it's way into the garage during the night and had crawled up under the hood of the car, where if fell asleep. The thumping was the fan blades hitting the cat's head (back in the good ol' days when those fans were metal, not plastic). The cat was injured enough so that it had to be put to sleep.
