Description: Lars (right) and Bård (left) finally visited Markku and his beautiful bird at Kiikala, Finland.
We flew over in our well-worn Piper Cherokee Warrior, a trip of about 4 hours.
Surprisingly, it was quite cool at Kiikala, so we cooled down considerably while examining Markku's plane in the hangar, during taxi tests, and in the air.
Fortunately, the club house provided a sauna and Markku provided a barbeque with beer to warm us as night fell.

Congrats to Finland for beating the USA in the world hockey championship! Great looking seaplane, forgive me for asking, but is something quirky with the tailwheel?

Aw, Dave. He put the airplane on it backwards--but you're not supposed to say anything.

Have you ever seen a cooler bunch of dudes as these? Hi, Bård and Lars! And Markku, you've built a terrific looking SeaRey. Well done!

Tailwheel is as OK as is our hockey team. So they get some good punches on the way but manages to stay up... Or is it just good luck?
And Don, these dudes are cool only because the weather were so cool.

I'd fly 4 hours anytime to get to see your bird Markku, but throw in the bar b q, beer, and sauna, and I'd fly across the ocean!

Great that our little sea bird has brought together friends across oceans (in this case Scandinavia!)

Markku, your innovative, well crafted achievement is all the more impressive because of your distance from other SeaReys! Enjoy theses months. They will always go down as best remembered memories.

My boyhood memories of summer sailing in Sweden remind me that your region’s beautiful archipelagos will provide for fantastic future gaggles with these friends..
