Description: Lake Drummond (half of all of Virginia's natural lakes) is about 2.5 miles in diameter.

The smoke trailed off to the southwest first and then made a wide curve toward the northwest--which is why the Wakefield robot thought it was hazy there.

More missles! Geez, we're glad you're still here to report the Blackwater battle, Don.

Dan, I think Blackwater was inside the firefighting TFR, so I figured those missiles were from the Homeland Security boys. (Or maybe it was the Home Depot guys?)

Don, Lake Drummond now diserves more than half credit for Virginia's natural lakes. Last evening, I flew over Mountain Lake - the other half of Virginia's natural lakes. I had heard it was down, but I was shocked at what I found. Mountain lake has been reduced to a large mud hole with a small puddle.
Several years ago, I considered landing on the lake. It was 2800 feet long, but at 3900 feet MSL, density altitude was a consideration as were the 100+ foot obstacles which would need to be cleared. I decided it was not a good idea.
There is lots of mystery surrounding Mountain Lake including why the water goes up and down and also the mystery of the human remains which were found.
If they choose to film a sequel to Dirty Dancing in the near future, I would guess they will choose a different venue.
<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML. That's dramatic, Jeff. How's your lake doing?

Our lake is great. The Appalachian Power Company owns the dam and thy hve been keeping the lake right at full pond. Lakes around us such as Smith Mountain Lake and Lake Norman in North Carolina have gone quite low during the dry spring and summer, but we have been hanging right around full pond.

Mountain Lake shown above is a natural lake. Its water level is controlled by the forces of nature. Three or four years ago, it was completely full. Now it is completely empty. They found human remains which apparantly date back to the early 1900's and became the local mystery of late. Hopefully, Mountain Lake will return again.

Lake Norman was low last summer (07) but has been at or above target this year. It's nice to have my landing strip back.
