You guys are killin' me. OK, goal for next year. Buy a tent, learn to camp, fly to OSH. Geeze - there are 32 airports directly in the route from my house to KOSH. What is wrong with me?? <br />Don Maxwell, did you make it in one day or did you stop over? Where if you did?<br />Anybody have a recommendation for a good tent? Or what not to buy?

My tent is a 12 lb Wenger (comfortable for 2 persons). Fits easily in a Searey.<p><img src="inline/20065-Tent.jpg" alt="Tent"><!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Yeah, but I like Darrell's Queen size blow up bed. Do you carry a blow up bed?

I think Darrell's equipment might require two SeaReys! (I like the headroom though.)<br />I guess what I like best about my light Swiss Wenger is that it has a sealed waterproof floor and with four 'hoops' the fly is held above a screened roof to provide excellent ventilation (even in the rain.)<br />I use the same mattress as Don..<br />

Dennis, I went by way of Quincy, IL, where I visited a friend for a couple of days. <br /><br />Just about any small tent will fit in a SeaRey. Mine is an old 7'x7' from K-Mart, or some place like that, the same size and shape as John's. Has good ventilation and a fly, but the bottom is not waterproof so I buy a 1 or 2 mil plastic disposable painting dropcloth for a ground cloth and don't bring it home. 7x7 is plenty big for one person and accommodates two who like each other well if they don't have a lot of luggage. (Cheap tents are fine for clement weather, but it's good to think of them as disposable, too.)<br /><br />I sleep on a Thermorest self-inflating mattress. <br /><br />I also have a tiny butane stove meant for backpacking that fits inside a small aluminum pot with cover. That's all I need to boil water for coffee, freeze-dried dinners, and the like.

Thanks everyone for the input. When I was planning on going to SnF, I bought a '7x7' from Walmart. When I set it up to inspect it, I couldn't lay down in it without touching both sides - and I'm 5'6'. It also looked like something my kid used to use in the back yard - disposable is a good description. I'm still researching - I figure I only need one more tent in my life so I want it to be a good 'un.

LOL sorry Lads I missed this post. The tent is a walmart special $49 bucks and the blow up Queen bed $29 bucks, tree to tree hammock $19 bucks.... grand total under $100 and you've got heaven on earth. The whole think easily fits in a Searey. This was the best OSH ever for temperature and comfort !

Thanks for all the responses. I had a fist full of LL Bean gift cards so I converted them to a 4 person tent. Probably major over kill but, after crediting all the gift cards, the tend and ground cover cost me $12.87.
