Description: Airplanes were not the only transportation on display at the “air” museum. This is the Tracked Levitated Research Vehicle or Rohr AEROTRAIN Tracked Air-Cushion Vehicle. It was one of three of this ilk selected by the U.S. Urban Mass Transportation Administration for testing at the DOT’s Pueblo facility

It cost $10 million to develop in the early 1970’s. The theory was to smoothly transport 60 people at 150 mph on a cushion of air using pollution free Linear Induction Motors. The oil crisis of 1973 made it too expensive to operate and it died in 1975.
