Description:
As I stood gawking through the museum's fence one of the locals came sauntering by. He gave me no heed. I suspect he was on the trail of the Road Runner.
“You should pay attention to the signs all around you. The Coyote is a messenger.”
“Oh, really. And what did he tell you?”
“Did you know that Native Americans referred to coyotes as ‘medicine dogs’? It is a sign that some kind of medicine is waiting for you. It can be good or bad.”
“Hmmmm….maybe you forgot to take your medicine this morning?”
“Laugh if you must and you should. The coyote is a cosmic trickster. He moves from one disaster of his on making to another, never learning from his mistakes. He is always astonished at the outcome, good or bad, of his tricks. It is funny, in a sad kind of way. That is his message for you.”
“Huh?”
“Sigh. You have a bad habit of believing you have beaten fate by your tricks, when it is only by luck you made it through. Look at the coyote and try to learn this lesson.”
“What I see is that your trickster is about to run afoul of a Transportation Security Agent with no sense of humor.”
The people at the airport were definitely not impressed with coyote’s message either. They called out the varmint squad. I would have waited to see how Yosemite Sam handled the situation, but I had dawdled long enough.
