My own anecdotal evidence appears to substantiate global warming, Jeff. When we moved to Richmond in 1976, it snowed every winter and every third or fourth winter there was at least one snowfall greater than 10 inches. Since around 1990 there's been little snow here, and in the past few years, almost none. The ground turned white briefly once or twice last winter, but not so far this winter.

Maybe in Virginia, Don, but the harsh winter we experienced last year, followed by a cool, wet summer, and the brutal cold most of the country has experienced this winter point otherwise. Northern Maine saw record-breaking temps last week; some areas were lower than 50 below zero F.<br /><br />'Al Gore could not be reached for comment.'

I wish I had snapped a pic of my outdoor thermometer last week when it showed -20 F. We have another cold snap coming this weekend, maybe I'll have another chance.

That's a truly cold picture, Don.
