Description: After a long chase, I caught up with Eric. That afternoon and the next morning we flew two more sorties together and chewed a whole lot of fat, too. Some of it was true fat; some, ersatz.

Come on Eric, you could at least smile a bit, oh and point that pitot down a bit.

Eric, what kind of speed do you get with the 914 and having the BRS on top?

Chris, too early to know for sure as I'm still adjusting prop pitch, calibrating airspeed, etc. But Don could barely catch me (with his 800 hour 914). It looks like cruise will be in the mid 80s mph @ well below max continuous power. I'm sure it will speed up when I retract the gear too Jim.

The only thing I get when I retract my gear is a slight trim change.
I hope you're not counting on a noticeable drag reduction.

Chris, I'm typically seeing 80 IAS in cruise with my BRS and 912 @ 5000
RPM.

Airspeed and rpm are greatly affected by the prop pitch. If this were on STS, I'd say that it's a lot easier to make comparisons with the 914 because you have a manifold pressure gauge to tell you (approximately) how hard the engine is working. For example, my dashing SeaRey cruises comfortably from splash to splash at 30 inches, 5000 rpm, and 85-90 mph. But it also gets that airspeed at 28 inches & 5300 rpm and at 34 inches & 4500 rpm. (Approx--I don't remember the exact figures, and this isn't a technical discussion anyway.)
