With the autumn colors, your plane almost looks painted in 'autumn camo' Nice pic, cold water!

Nice shot, John. Nice elevation, too. What do you reckon your water speed is up there for landings and takeoffs?

There is an idea...seasonally adjustable adaptive paint! My feet did not turn blue walking on the sandy bottom, so it was tolerable.

Indicated liftoff airspeed of 50 knots is the same regardless of altitude, but my E6-B 'confuser' computes the true airspeed at this density altitude of 9100 feet to be 57 knots across the water. The 914 references pressure altitude (7623 feet this day) for full throttle power, so I was still getting 40inHg of manifold pressure & 115 hp @ 5800rpm. The takeoff run on water a few minutes later from Tahoe at 6229 feet elevation was only 2 seconds less. Hardly noticeable. I had to read the seconds off the video tape to tell the difference.

Thanks, John. Your results confirm Rotax's claims for the 914, and that the takeoff run was only slightly longer than at 6229 feet is encouraging, too. I keep forgetting to notice the GPS groundspeed during takeoffs--maybe that's the copilot's job.
