Great diggs to build a SeaRey Steve!

Coming from a land of great Indian tribes, you will now be known as 'SeaRey Steve'

Sure beats a garage like I had. Even a two car garage is just not enough room. Having a hangar will put you way ahead, Steve. No excuses now; we expect to see it flying within a year....

Hi Tom!! Sorry we didn't meet up last year. I'm looking forward to getting down and seeing you this year, I grew up out on the coast by Bodega Bay.

Thanks Mark. They say the journey is as important as the destination, but I'm REALLY looking forward to having her flying.

(I'm also known as 'Buddha' and 'Steve Crewdog'. SeaRey Steve has a great ring too.)

Steve are you an R/C modeler? I see a model hanging in the picture.

Lima has a model in his hangar, too.

Yes I am, Tom. From all the way back to 1978. I'm a Sunday fun flyer kind of guy, more of a builder. How about you?

Steve, My first remote controlled radio was a heathkit, I even built the servos. I still enjoy building and flying R/C models. I live in Minnesota and we have many winter days when the water is solid ice and too hard to fly the full sized Searey. So I have time to build R/C models. I am thinking of building a 1/5 scale model of the Searey.
My latest radio is 2.4 Ghz and the receiver has two antenna that mount 90 degrees from each other. The receiver selects the strongest signal and can switch so that no transmission is lost. The transmitter transmitts two signals on different frequinces at the same time. No more interference from other transmitters and no worries about frequency pins at the field. Where do you live? Attachments:

Tom - you should talk to Frank Gracy. I believe he may have build an RC Searey. He is an experienced RC and Searey pilot.

I live in Bellingham WA, about 90 miles north of Seattle.

I'd love to see an rc SeaRey, or one for Flight Sim.

From one Steve to another...you're going to need a bigger work bench!

This latter Steve isn't kidding. After I unpacked my crate I put the lid back on to have a 4' x 16' workbench. Since it was so clearly oversized I put a stereo and boxes of CDs on it. By the end of the project all that entertainment stuff was on the floor. I not only had the crate covered w SR stuff but also had two 3' x 6' tables, two card tables, one car hood, and my radial arm saw table covered with parts and tools.

Hmmm..... That's a 30'x 96' table, and I just built a 30'x60' today. Guess I better keep a tighter eye on the scrap bin at Lowes. (I bought most of my wood from the scrap bin on a Saturday night after they had filled it with miscuts during the day. Got about $200 of wood for $10.)

How far is this hanger from your home? How long a drive?

Steve Kessinger - Mar 03,2010 Viewers | Reply
About 7 miles. I could easily ride my bike when it gets warmer.

Interesting day today. On the lower left side you can see the 1' plywood ramps the original owner put in for his Cessna. I was thinking about having a concrete floor put in but the estimates were 3-5k. Last night a friend mused 'What if we just ran wood all the way through??'

So today we bought all the ply underlayment in town and got more on order. A little bit at a time.

It looks like it has a concrete floor already.

Nope, asphalt with a sealer overlay. What you're probably seeing is the overspray from when I painted the inside. I wanted to paint it to reflect light but the overlay will only take epoxy.

After surgeries on my right knee, I want all the cushioning I can get.
