Description: Ice is out at my place on Little Pushaw, very early this year. Some Maine lakes are experiencing earliest ice-outs on record. Our winter has been very mild with very little snow. No complaints here.

Hey Mark, I'll be up at the family place on Lake George, NY the week before Memorial Day and across that weekend. If you have a chance to come by, you'd be welcome to stop by for a visit. A couple of sandy beaches in our bay.

Good enough, Ken. You gonna be at Garner's and/or Sun&amp;Fun?

I've got duty the weekend of Garners - damnit. But I do plan on taking a day off work for SNF.

Aren't you the CO, Ken? Thought rank had priviledges, at least that's what us lowly airmen/sergeants were told. Assign your drill weekend to someone else.

Yeah, well, 'service before self' and all that... I'm just a squadron/cc, not wing. Wing/cc decides which weekends and even he gets some of them dictated from above. Usually the first weekend of the month. Been an airman and sergeant, lieutenant was the worst.

I know Ken, I was just teasin'. Done over 6 years of drill weekends and 'two training weeks' per year myself (actually 3 work weeks, but recruiters don't tell you that). Those weekends always fell on something you wanted to do.

Tsk! Pity the poor officer caste!

'Our winter has been very mild with very little snow. ' Interesting, we can say the same in SW Florida. (Officially, <br />second coldest winter in history in our County.)

Certainly was a weird winter, Frank. I've heard how cold it was down there. All the bad storms went to the south of us, too. Just yesterday I talked to someone in Georgia who said it was in the 30's, and they had snow flurries that morning!

I still have a frozen lake (Minnesota) I hope it melts in a few weeks.

OK, now the ice is out!!! Even in Minnesota. We had some warm weather and the ice is gone. Now to put the airplane ramp, dock, boat lift, boats.... Well maybe just the airplane ramp and go flying.

Our lake froze in November, by far the earliest I have seen that. However after Christmas it has been generally wet and warm with just odd cold weekends.
