Description: All daylight could do was seep in through cracks in the dark gray overcast. The clouds looked determined to delay my scheduled journey.

I had only a short window of opportunity to get Jon’s SeaRey to its new owner in Midland, Ontario. The window was bounded by weather systems going and coming. Time for dealing with forecast time-sucking headwinds had to be stuffed into the window.

The local morning weather was not swayed by my pacing. There was nothing to do but wait it out. Waiting for Flying Time (“WaFT”) is some of the longest time there is. Furtive glances at the clock came at frustratingly frequent intervals. The clock relentlessly ate away at the edges of the window.

By the time the clouds lifted just enough, frustration sent me hustling to get the airplane in the air. I knew there could be delaying clouds over the horizon. In the worst case, however, further delay could occur in the air and the water. At least I wouldn’t be WaFTing.

So what if I had to fly lazy eights waiting for weather! Time delayed while in SeaRey operation is Loitering SeaRey Time (“LoST”). That’s a good time by my measure.
