Description: BAck in '04, after being mislead by NOAA & the National Weather Service which showed Cat 2 Charley 100 miles offshore headed North, the local news media Doppler radar showed the upgraded Cat 4 storm 50 miles SW of and bearing down on Ft. Myers area. At 1pm Friday all was calm, by 215pm all hell broke loose.Charlie made landfall here at "Upper Captiva Island" severing into two pieces of 2/3rds (North) and 1/3rd (South). This view is looking East after a few years of nature's backfilling. The shoal (Center Left) used to be on the Island but now is a seasonal home to White Pelicans who visit us briefly each winter.
