Description: The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge is located on the southwest coast of Florida. Established in 1996, this 35,000 acres refuge protects important mangrove habitats and a rich diversity of native wildlife, including several endangered species. That's the USPS Boilerplate. The fact is that this place is accurately named!

What a weird looking pond! I've never seen structures like that before.

The "structures" as you observe Don, are Manatees and Gators, all protected by our well armed park service. And BTW, you can't put a seaplane down here I suppose for fear of frightening the structures.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML.     I think you're giving me too much credit for observation, Frank. I didn't notice any critters--was just puzzled by the shapes of the green parts.

I rode my wave runner into the 10,000 island area 3 years ago...I'd still be there if i didn't <br />locate the fishing boat with a knowledgable captain...quite the maze!

What was your starting point Wayne? Certainly not Fort Myers.

Wayne Nagy - Feb 08,2013   Viewers  | Reply
Yes Frank...18.5 gallon tank and 2 containers lashed to the back plus stops along the <br />way...it was summer time and the Gulf was relatively flat...
