I took this photo about 50 miles south of our house, Dan. The Chowan officially begins right about at the VA-NC state line, although one of its tributaries, the Blackwater, runs close to the James. The Chowan itself is a beautiful river and relatively unknown. There's not much development on it, even down to where it flows into the Albemarle Sound. My only experience on it--so far--is two flights to Rat Landing SPB.
