Today, I also discovered a very cool Searey destination. It is the Huntington Yacht Club.
Check it out on Google Earth at
38°25'32.35"N
82°26'18.54"W.
It has a nice Searey friendly ramp and large parking lot and presto, you are in downtown Huntington with hundreds of places to eat within a short walk.
We left the airplane there for over an hour while we walked around town and found a nice sports bar for lunch. I was a little concerned about leaving the plane there, but it was fine (even given that it was unlocked and when I returned, I realized that I had failed to remove the keys from the ignition). Twice while we were with the plane, an official looking city government car came by and the driver waived and gave a thumbs up.
I did not specifically identify a source of gasoline there, but I am certain if you had a gas can in hand, it would not be too hard to get it filled. The Yacht Club was pretty well deserted.

Excellent SeaRey Adventure, Jeff! And that ramp is a great find.

(Watch out for wires across the river. I had a bad scare a few miles downstream from there.)

Yea, +1 on the wires, Don. I had scoped this out in advance. I approached from the east and departed to the east to stay out of Huntington TRSA. There is a power line about one mile east of the ramp. It is marked with balls. On approach, I flew over the line and then dropped down. On departure, I took off and flew under the line and then climbed out.
I had studied the online navigation charts for the area.<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML. Good charts, Jeff. Thanks for posting them. They seem a bit too complex for a quick read in the cockpit while letting down for an impromptu river landing, but great for planning ahead.
