Some pics of the launch from 100 nautical miles away.

In MoonAboveHorizon, the white light is on the James River, below the horizon. This was at about 6:50 EST. The original launch time was 7:30, but there was a delay until 8:15. Without the delay, we probably wouldn't have been able to see early part of the launch because the moon rose at almost exactly the same azimuth.

In the middle photo (at 8:15:??), you can see the moon reflected on the water and the Minotaur is the white light in the lower left quadrant. The exhaust looked quite red, but the digital camera made it look whitish.

The third shot is about half a minute later, when the rocket was approaching the apparent height of moon.

The Minotaur is made up of Peacekeeper (MX) and Minuteman missile parts. Nice use for them.

'They shall beat their swords into plowshares...'
