Description: This afternoon, I was sitting in my office (overlooking the lake) staring at my computer screen researching some junk on Amazon when my phone rang. The name 'Kevin D'Agnelo' flashed on my phone. I answered, 'Hey Kevin!', then he said 'What lake do you live on?' at which time I shifted my sight from my computer screen to the lake out the window and there was Kevin floating in front of my house.

Tell us about your dock set up and the matting you are using . Looks interesting.

Hi Dave, By 'dock set up and the matting' I assume you mean the material I use on the ramp. It is 'expanded metal'. It is like the stuff they put on trailer gates and sides. I have 6 sheets of the stuff - (3) off 10 by 4 feet and (3) off 8 by 4 feet. They make for an overall size of 12 feet wide by 18 feet long. They are heavy gauge sheets. I don't recall the gauge number, but a 4x8 sheet weighs close to 70 pounds. Also, my present sheets are galvanized. I used to have straight steel, but they rusted out in a couple of years. The galvanized is holding up just great. The expanded metal sheets are sitting on 357 gravel, although I suspect you could put them on about anything.

I should also mention that I tie the sheets together with safety wire.

If you would like a picture, I could post one tomorrow.

Ha- It always seems that the times you try to take off with the wheels down somebody is watching.
Don - I had originally planned on going to that fly in on the way home but my muffler separated at the flange when I landed at St Simons island and I had to use tons of safety wire to hold the muffler in place so it wasn't banging around while I flew. . So I decided to go straight home and avoid the flyin and potential more issues with the muffler.

    Cool job, Kev!

Hey, if you're flying northeast from Jeff's today (Sunday, 18 May), there's a splash-in on Lake Anna in VA. Coords: 38.07650, -77.81230. Splash in!
