Ever since Guliana & I got married last December we've been looking to sell our separate houses and move into a slightly bigger one together, preferably with some land and near the water. We closed on this last Monday, I've had a paintbrush glued to my hand since then.<br /><br /><br />Good news: We've got about a month of painting, etc work to do, then we're settled in.<br />Bad (good news): About the time we're done and I'd be free to work on OspRey again, I'll be heading to 787 transition training, and will be based in SFO instead of Newark. Looks like the summer is going to be a wash, but I won't be commuting transcon to get to work any more. <br /><br /><br /><br />So there we were Saturday, the entire house inside and out is various shades of green so painting is a very high priority, Giuliana was looking at paint chips while I was prepping rooms, and neighbors start stopping by. Hi, are you the new owners? Welcome to the neighborhood. By the way, we're having a party tonight for so-and-so's 70th birthday, come on over. What? You're covered with paint, trying to get things done and don't have any clean clothes or food to bring? Then you really need to come over for a few minutes and we'll feed you, you don't have to stay, just say Hi and meet everyone.<br /><br />So we go over, word has already gotten around about us and Sparky is making woman-talk, a guy comes over to me: Hi I'm Mike with Cathay, Tom over there is with FedEx, Bill is coming by later, he's with Allegiant...<br /><br /><br />Ya just can't get away from pilots. Now I really know I'm home.
