Description: Winter in Skagit County means the arrival of migrating swans and Siberian Snow Geese. It's very cool to be by the window and hear them coming, then see one, two, or sometimes a seemingly endless wave pass overhead, just above treetop height.

New arrivals? Or is the mud better on the other side of the road?

The bad side is laying in bed in the morning and hearing an occasional *pop* *pop* *pop* from hunters. I'm sure that, just like in any group, there are jerks out there, but all of the ones I've talked to have been respectful of their place in the food chain, and I've even seen and talked to grizzled gents in their Carharts sitting on their tailgates with a thermos of coffee, just sitting and enjoying the spectacle.      Attachments:

In a few months the byproducts of the geese will result in spectacular tulips, corn during the summer, and in the fall, potatoes.      Attachments:

If a blizzard is a strong wind blowing snow, then the "Snow Geese" video, especially, is a blizzard indeed!

Gertrude: How do you know it's the Ship of Fools?
Heathcliff: They're looking up.

Looks like great inspiration for getting OspRey into the mix, Steve. (You haven't been sneaking out with the wife's camera, have you?) Let me know when the Snow Geese Produce Immodest Ice Cream Cones become available again. That sounds like an excellent reason to fly out for a visit!

Fortunately, they're closed for the season, making temptation easy to avoid. However, they open again in March, just in time for Tulip and Daffodil season.

Let me know next time you're out here, Dan, if it's the 3rd Thursday of the month you'll be having dinner with a bunch of old pelicans who all get together once a month. No wimmen allowed.

Snow Goose Produce is on the way from home to SeaTac, I have to consciously avert my eyes so I don't stop, lest I add even more to my front baggage compartment and further reduce OspRey's payload.      Attachments:

We're trying, Dan, I've done more work on her in the last couple months than in the last few years. Today's project is to build the rotating wing stands, hope to have at least one built by the end of the day today.

Take only pictures, leave only footprints. Hunters aren't the only ones shooting the birds.      Attachments:

I know she’ll be excited when you get her flying studio operational and I can’t wait to see the results

No such thing as a tame goose, and I pity anyone who gets out of their car to get an up-close picture. A pic from the side of the road from the protective bubble of my car is close enough for me, thank you very much.      Attachments:
