Flexible Flight Plans Day 6
Previous
 Photo Info
Posted By: Dave Edward
Date Posted: Jan 25, 2019
Description: Pretty proud folks around here. Grandson Casey completed his up-
grade with Air Georgian, an Air Canada Regional Connector, flying
CRJs, a Regional Jet.He did a Toronto to Omaha and return check
flight and was handed his 4th stripe on arrival back in Toronto last
evening. Needless to say, we are very happy to see all of Casey's hard
work come to fruition .
I'd like to think that his hands and feet were developed by the many
hours he flew in VMU , starting when he was eight years old .

Congrats Dave. A neighbors son was just accepted into the Florida Air National Guard to fly F-16s. He and his dad
credit his playing with my Searey with my son during construction and my mentoring him. It makes me ridiculously
happy to see his success.

You have quite a dynasty there, Dave. Was your father a pilot, too?

Dave Edward - Dec 18,2018   Viewers  | Reply
Yes indeed Don. IFALPA has published an article about generational airline flying and it
turns out that there is one family in France with 4 generations and one more family
...........here in Canada. Pretty nice legacy started by my dad.

Congratulations, brings back memories when I was in that position going into Castlegar in the Kootenay area of BC. Probably one of the most challenging approaches both VFR and IFR with minimums of around 3000 feet. After getting comments about being to low, too high and we probably have to go around. Gritting my teeth I put that aircraft right on the 500 foot mark and while taxing in the check pilot said that he is getting off and taking the flight back to YVR, so here are my stripes I can do the rest of the flight myself with my f/o to YXD. So long ago now even YXD [Edmonton] is no longer there.

What great memories we all have from sitting in airplanes. First solo......first trip as " in command "
and the first trip in a SeaRey. Like you Fred, I remember that day when the check pilot said the same
thing to me in CYFC and I carried on to CYQB and CYUL in a Viscount.......long time ago.

    Dave,
A proud moment to be sure. Congrats to all of you. I remember seeing the article from IFALPA as it told a memorable story. Hope we can catch up this year and spend time seeing the Lockheed 10.

    I purchased 1 DK 070.......C-FVMU from Francois Picard 31st July 1999 184 TT.
Francois had purchased VMU From ( Richard VanDaigle ?????)7th Sept. 1996 63 TT.
I believe that it was a 1995 kit trucked up from Fla.
I have no other history but maybe Francois can add some.

    Hello John
I'm the guy who sell VMU to Dave. I bought the plane from Richard Vandandaigle in 1996.
The guy builted it in Florida and bring it here by truck i beleive. I've been told after i bought the plane that Richard
hit a big wave on the St-Lawrence river and the windshield broke up. It's never been confirmed to me but i suspect
that it's true. So he put the plane for sale right away. Pretty soon i had to send an intrument for repair and the man
from the cie told me that this instrument has been clean previouly and lubricated with `snchout`. And the other thing
wich make me think about it later is the owner did not want to fly the plane with me pretexting the insurance and bla bla bla when i was looking for buying it. So he hired an amphibian qualified pilot. The plane was flying great anyway.

Also. i work part time at CZBM airport and i checked last summer in our airport computer and found at that time that
the C of A has not been renew for VMU.

So this is all i know, anything else, feel free to contact me.
