Description: Our hangars have HID lights, which are a PITA because they take time to warm up, gotta replace the bulbs and ballast, etc. I started researching LED options this summer and found out our local utility offers about a 30% subsidy to replace the HIDs with no-ballast LEDs that are brighter and use less power, and 9 out of 10 hangar owners opted-in, so we got a nice quantity discounty from the supplier.

It looks pretty easy to rewire the fixture to bypass the ballast, but for liability I'm hiring an electrician to do mine.

Something to think about if you have HIDs in your hangar.

Good stuff Steve. My friend manufactures LED lights in the 4' long fluorescent format here in Tampa. (Yes, we still
build stuff in America) Meaning it looks like a traditional 4 bulb, 4' long, light fixture.
I put 4 in my hangar and really like it. The ones you show look great too.

Actually, we ran into a problem, these lights are meant for high bay warehouses and are more of a spotlight type with no scatter to the sides of the fixture, we're now looking at "corncob" type lights that give 360 illumination. Will update as we know.
