Thanks for the great video Don. Good to see Buck and Rob our braving a windy day and making it look easy.

The wind on the surface was about 15 kts, but somewhat less where they came ashore because of the trees. Here's my favorite wind speed gauge. It's perfectly simple (as long as the little white bead stays dry):
The left side is for wind up to 10 mph. (To read the left side, take the finger off of the hole at the very top.) The black markings are (approximately) knots.
If you don't mind buying AAA batteries, there are bigger-heavier electronic wind meters for less money, such as https://www.amazon.com/HOLDPEAK-Anemometer-Measuring-Temperature-Backlight/dp/B00ZHKWCP4/ref=pd_cp_328_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=80460301815383741&pf_rd_r=DE662E5K3YP705NAM41D&pd_rd_wg=IgxS8&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=hujTq&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=71033399-838e-11e8-b57f-bb83f84ca79e&pd_rd_i=B00ZHKWCP4&psc=1&refRID=DE662E5K3YP705NAM41D

Well, I had to do it. As soon as I saw how cheap the HoldPeak electronic wind meter was, and that Amazon Prime shipped it "free," I had to do the One Click thing. $22.99. What a sucker, eh?
It arrived yesterday, and it works perfectly, just as advertised. Oddly, the turbine is slightly out of balance, but there's no vibration, it spins freely, and appears not to affect the windspeed readings. Besides wind speed in your choice of mph, knots, m/s, and km/h, it displays temp in F and C. It also reports the Beaufort scale (not mentioned in the docs).
No doubt the batteries will be dead long before I actually need it, and I'll then resort to the trusty Dwyer.
(The battery door is held on by two small screws, making the paper strip trick to disconnect the AAA batteries impractical. And the supplied batteries are wrapped in plastic, so you have to take the door off and remove the plastic before the meter will work. I may just leave the door off altogether, or hold it on with a rubber band.)

Another cool video Don. Were you using your iPhone as the camera?

Right, Frank. But in a couple of places--during landings--I used the Ken Burns effect in Apple's FinalCut to zoom in on the airplanes. It happens so slowly in a long clip that you might not notice, but the video gets grainier as the zoom effect progresses. (I met Burns once, before he became "Ken Burns." Interesting guy.)

Another great video Don! It sure was a fun impromptu Searey Day. I was enroute across the Potomac River to Fredericksburg to give my daughter's boyfriend a ride, when learning he got food poisoning the night before and still wasn't feeling well so I decided to explore the upper Potomac. Flying up the Potomac I was curious who was flying down the river at Searey altitude. It turned out to be another Searey going to meet friends at Colonial Beach (site of a recent seaplane splash in). While flying overhead cover another Searey voice came from near St Clements Island. It was obviously a Searey Day so I joined at Don's and enjoyed around 3 hours on multiple rivers with a couple impromptu Searey gaggles. What a great community of fun-loving pilots.

Good to see you enjoying the flying Buck. By the way I did get the Garmin 345 upgrade as you did. It's great to be able to see the traffic and the weather.

Like the video, but have a question. It sure seemed the Blue/green SR had a much shorter takeoff distance. The second one, had a 914. What did the Blue/green one have for an engine?

Both are 914, Mark. The times are roughly 8 seconds v. 13 seconds. About an hour passed between the takeoffs and the wind had dropped off and changed direction by about 30 or 40 degrees. Also, I think Rob's prop was set for cruise and Buck's, climb-ish. That alone would account for the takeoff difference.
