Buck's brother, Tom, was in the right seat.

We landed at Pittman Field, one of the nicest grass strips in the area.

Two other seaplanes were in the open-front hangar that day, this venerable Challenger (which has just been sold)...

...and Lindsay's brand new Legend Cub with a big engine and only about 20 hours on the Hobbes. It replaces the yellow Searey that he flew for six or eight years.

Buck took off first, and I eventually caught up to him--as you can see in this brief and slightly spooky clip, with his prop apparently turning slowly in the wrong direction:

I'd say it looks like it's turning in the "right" direction to me since he is going backwards to catch up with you! That is a cool angle for the camera though and makes for a great video. It's always pleasing to see a homebuilt out run a factory bird. Here's a screen shot.

Really nice video shot, Don, even if Buck didn't cooperate, using a counter-rotating gearbox. Can you get a real picture (still) from it? That will eliminate Buck's skullduggery and make for one of the nicest SeaRey formation shots ever!

I like that angle, too, Dan--although it's not perfect for capturing formation flying. If the lead Searey's float is on its nose, as Col. Grumpy recommended, that entire Searey will be obscured by the camera plane. But if you can live with imperfection, here's what it looked like that day:

Oh, That's a beauty! I haven't been flying with the Searey community all that long, but I've seen that view before having flown formation with Buck & Dave on the way to Don's Splash in this year. Looks like a beautiful day. And I agree, that is some sexy formation footage! Way to go Don!
