Description: Taking a cool swim break is one advantage of SeaRey touring. It's harder to justify when you are working, on a mission, a task, a job to be completed. On the other hand, OSHA requires breaks for intensive work tasks, right? Or it could have been incipient heat stroke causing me to lose focus on the job of flying.

How many other serious folks have been lost in the desert only to be diverted by the illusion of cool, clear water?

""All day I've faced a barren waste
Without the taste of water, cool water
Old Dan and I with throats burnt dry
And souls that cry for water
Cool, clear, water

Keep a-movin, Dan, don'tcha listen to him, Dan
He's a devil, not a man
And he spreads the burning sand with water
Dan, can ya see that big, green tree?
Where the water's runnin' free
And it's waitin' there for me and you?
It's water, cool, clear water.

The nights are cool and I'm a fool
Each star's a pool of water
Cool water
But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn
And carry on to water
Cool, clear, water

Keep a-movin, Dan, don'tcha listen to him, Dan
He's a devil, not a man
And he spreads the burning sand with water
Dan, can ya see that big, green tree?
Where the water's runnin' free
And it's waitin' there for me and you?

It's water, cool, clear, water
Cool, clear, water
Cool, clear, water""

The Grand Canyon Special Flight Restrictions had to be circumnavigated. Climbing out of Paria Canyon north of the restrictions put me on top on the plateau. There was greenery in the streams but the shrubberies are not nearly so deep as back in the canyon.

The high plains looked like a bombing range. Could it be an ecologically incorrect critter mounding mayhem? Utah Prairie Dog burrows? I didn't stop to investigate, what with trying to be seriously on a schedule (or some other nonsensical excuse like the probability of breaking off a gear leg in a psuedo-gopher hole).

An oasis and overnight respite from the sun sand wind and work. It's probably not the best place to get refocused on flight work.

""Cool Water"" is one of my all-time favorites Dan. Heard it sung live by the Son's of the Pioneers, or what was left of
them (or reconstructed) in a small town in AZ in the 80's.

Also flew to Bullhead City/Laughlin a couple of times, and think I understand the meaning of your comment: ""work?""

Thanks Dan for these awesome photos of our west even tho one or two may be ""Modern Art"".
