Hi everyone

My name is Paul Hewitt and I have just received my Searey kit in Far North Queensland Australia. I have been keeping an eye on the Searey sites and find them incredibly inrteresting and humourous. To give you an idea of how things may progress... I tried to boil up some linseed oil yesterday to coat the inside of the alloy tubes and had an environmental disaster... yes you guessed it the damn stuff caught fire! Will try again today and maybe turn down the heat a bit this time!

Merry XMAS to all.

Paul

Just wait until you try deep frying a turkey in your livingroom.

Paul - or you could just buy it already boiled as I do. Don't know if they have Home Depot or Lowes in Neverland, but you might look for it in your hardware stores.

    Hi Ken

It was boiled but Rob says to boil it again to thicken it up a bit so it sticks a little better.. or is it just a sick joke for new Searey owners.... sorta like an intitiation?

I don't know about starting fires as an initiation! But have you ordered your flight line yet? Be sure you have pleanty for tying the plane down with. 50' should do. Then you'll also want some prop wash to keep the plane clean. A couple of gallons should do because that can be diluted.

Remember, it's an amphibian, Paul. You'll want some shore line, too. And we use a Beaufort scale to weigh amphibs, so you might as well be looking for a good deal on them.

I'd get a couple quarts of bilge for the inside of the hull, too. Don't worry about adding too much, the bilge pump will dispense of any excess.

    Hi Ross

Would love to catch up if you ever fly this far up and have a look at your Searey. I couldn't make the fly in last year as too busy selling my business and organising the move to QLD from WA. Certainly enjoying the build so far and hope to be flying it in a few months (ha ha maybe). My direct email address is racingr33@yahoo.com.au if you want to contact direct.

Paul
