The child pumps his legs in rhythm with the swing, climbing excruciatingly high
Gasping at the zenith as the ropes go slack for an instant then catching for the slide down
Later adds another dimension on a single rope as it sings in circles
Yet later, the pumping legs bicycle him to an opening world of balance, thrills and new places
Cars open yet more places but soon become just a means to an adult end, he wonders if he will swing again
Much later, as his new exploring machine takes to the sky, his legs pump in rhythm
